I'm a former Boy Scout and avid backpacker to this day.
I carry on all of my treks a Sierra Designs Velox Ultralight style. It's a two person, or in my case one person, one dog, tent.
It's incredibly light, weighing no more than 6 pounds with the fly.
We like to hike various terrains, lately I've been into the Appalachian hills, doing freelance work for a small environmental group documenting mountain top destruction by coal companies.
My Sierra Designs Velox Ultralight tent is very sturdy, and is assembled in a matter of a minute or two.
Two doors on both sides really help out in those late night moments where the dog has to do his business and I haven't the strength to sit up and open the front...I just extend my arm up and pull the zipper open.
It holds well in rain. I'm experienced in light tent useage, so I usually arrange my camp near or under larger volumes of trees.
The fabric on the Sierra Designs Velox has an incredible wicking power that keeps the moisture out and dries fast while on the trail.
Overall, I love my Sierra Designs Velox Ultralight tent and look forward to keeping it for a long time.
