The North Face Trailhead 4 Tent Reviews

The North Face Trailhead 4 Tent is a top four-person, 3 season shelter perfect for bringing your family together.

While it is not large enough for four full grown adults, this dome tent provides ample space for a couple or a young family with two children.

Thanks to a large vestibule area, hiking gear and equipment can be stored outside and enough space exists for cots or thermarests.

The Trailhead 4 by North Face does not have fancy bells and whistles that its sister tent (the Trailhead 8) has, but it's a quality 4 person shelter that is waterproof and large enough for space to stretch out while being cozy enough to bring the family together in the woods.

The North Face Trailhead 4
Tent Review

This is a very well designed dome, family camping tent. Some of the many thoughtful features include:

  • Well-ventilated - Two windows, a top vent, and 2 large doors provide excellent ventilation.

  • Max height of 6 ft - Enjoy standing up in your tent

  • Large vestibule - Store your hiking gear outside

  • Easy to pitch

  • Light color - Your family won't feel like they're camping in a cave

Once again, The North Face has constructed a solid tent. The Trailhead 4 bx does what it's supposed to do and does it well: provide a great car-camping shelter that has substantial space for hiking equipment and room to stretch out.

Unlike other family camping tents, The North Face Trailhead 4 bx is reasonably priced. However, you sacrifice privacy and the bells and whistles found with other family cabin tents.

But if you'd rather be cozy with your kids and read them to sleep, as opposed to shutting the door and having privacy, then this is the perfect camping tent for your family.

The North Face Trailhead 4 Tent Footprint

Purchasing a tent footprint can dramatically extend the lifespan of your camping gear.

Even if you find the best price, a tent can still run a few hundred dollars. Dropping another fifty bucks is the least thing many families want to do. However, tent footprint's protect your shelter from abrasion, tear, and other abuse.

An extra fifty dollars now will save you $300 in the long run.

The North Face Trailhead 4 bx Tent: Advantages

If you want a reliable, 4 person tent that doesn't have the bells and whistles typically associated with family camping tents, the Trailhead 4 is worth considering.

It is a true camper's tent: no frills, no extras, room to spread out (but not too much space that you feel like you're in a hotel), excellent ventilation, and 2 large vestibules to store hiking gear and equipment.

Thanks to its light coloration, this dome family tent does not feel like a den. Light pours in and wakes you up to begin a day of outdoor adventures.

As usual, The North Face completely waterproofed their tent. The 2009 Trailhead 4 bx can keep you dry during a hurricane.

Finally, pitching this shelter is a breeze and can be accomplished with two people in a matter of minutes.

The North Face Trailhead 4 Tent: Disadvantages

Many camping tent reviews mention how the floor material does not seem perfectly trustworthy.

While North Face always makes a quality product, we still recommend purchasing the Trailhead 4 footprint to maximize your investment's lifespan.

Remember, this is not a backpacking tent.

At 20 pounds, it's heavy and cumbersome. It is designed to be used while car camping.

The North Face Trailhead 4 Tents: Consumer Reviews

Consumers like:
  • Waterproof
  • Well-ventilated
  • 2009 model is light in color
  • Large gear vestibules

North Face Trailhead 4 tents are quality shelters. For no-frills campers that would rather be out and about than in their tent, this is one of the best family camping tents.

Purchasing the 2009 Trailhead 4 by North Face will ensure a successful introduction of camping to your kids.
