North Face tents use innovative technology and creative designs to build sturdy camping tents that you can rely on. However, the cost is in your pocketbook and the North Face Mountain 25 Tent is no exception on either point.
The Mountain 25 Expedition is a 2 person, 4 season shelter built with a geodesic design that keeps you well insulated and warm against snow and wind.
When building the Mountain 25 Expedition tent, North Face wanted to design a lightweight shelter that can be pitched quickly when a backcountry snowstorm is approaching. Thanks to Fusion Pitch and DAC Featherlite NSL tent pole technology, this shelter pitches quickly, is lightweight for a 4 season backpacking tent, and is sturdy in 50 mph winds.
Finally, innovative Lift Technology utilizes a pole/hub system on the North Face Mountain 25 Tents rainfly, which permits wind to pass through, slightly raising the tent. While this may sound terrifying, Camping Tent Reviews found it actually increases its stability.
The Mountain 25 Tent Fully Pitched
As glossed over above, The North Face Mountain 25 Expedition Tent utilizes excellent technology and innovative design to minimize weight and provide excellent reliability. Other noteworthy features include:
The combination of all these features makes The North Face Mountain 25 Expedition Tent one of the best, 4 season, 2 person backpacking shelters.
Mountaineering and extreme sports enthusiasts have relied on the Mountain 25 tent for years and judging on its excellent reviews, people will continue to do so for decades to come.
As usual, the North Face uses a wise design: cut slightly smaller than the Expedition tent floor, the NF Mountain 25 footprint prevents water from pooling underneath during storms.
The footprint adds 10-14 oz to your pack, depending on tent model.
North Face Mountain 25 Specs
The best aspect of this 2 person, 4 season backpacking tent is its tried and tested ability to withstand the worst of mountain storms. Regardless of where you are in the world, the weather report, and altitude, you can rest assured that you will be safe and secure.
Having 2 doors on the tent adds weight, but is a nice convenience. Additionally, on hot summer days you can unzip both doors so you have excellent airflow
The vestibule is large enough to store all your camping equipment. However, again this adds additional weight for convenience.
Finally, the reflectors make the tent easy to setup in the evening hours and locate after dark.
The greatest disadvantage to this 4 season, 2 person camping tent is its weight. When you include the Mountain 25 footprint, this tent adds over 8.5 pounds to your pack weight.
While featherlight tent poles help minimize weight, additional conveniences, like 2 doors and vestibules, cause this tent to weigh so much.
That said, it is still relatively light for a 4 season tent. However, in the opinion of Camping Tent Reviews, the NF Mountain 25 is too heavy to use as a summer shelter.

The North Face Mountain 25 tent is an amazing 4 season, 2 person shelter. With the Mountain 25 Expedition, you know you will be safe and secure, regardless of weather.
While heavy, having this level of trust in your tent outweighs its excessive weight.
Still, the North Face Mountain 25 Expedition tent's price is steep for a heavy 4 season tent that, in the opinion of Camping Tent Reviews, is too heavy for summer backpacking.
But if you already own a separate, summer backpacking tent and need a winter shelter, this piece of camping gear is a worthwhile investment.
