Perfect for any camping trip, the creatively designed & ultra lightweight MSR Fling tent's a top choice for beginner campers & seasoned professionals alike.
The Fling is a two-person, freestanding shelter that will take up minimal space and add almost unnoticeable weight to your pack.
Widely praised among the online camping community, MSR has created yet another hit with this generously spacious and unexpectedly comfortable product.
You'd be a fool to ignore the Fling tent if you're in the market for a new tent for this camping season, and the next, and the next, and the next...
Unfortunately the MSR Fling has been discontinued, but we will keep the review up for historical purposes.
MSR consistently manufactures high quality shelters that stand up to the elements and the test of time. We here at Camping Tent Reviews are as objective as possible when it comes to giving you the low down on available shelters. But it's hard not be excited by anything MSR puts on the retailers' shelves.
Some of the Fling's best benefits include:
There are, however, some disadvantages in choosing this model over other two-person tents on the market.
Some people are dissatisfied with the amount of condensation collected by the Fling, the awkwardness and difficulty in entering and exiting the shelter, and the lack of vestibule space.
In the end, though, it's up to you to decide whether or not the Fling tent is the right fit for you.
Below, we'll take a closer look at the pros and cons of this model, so that you have all the information you'll need to make such a decision.
Weighing in at less than three and a half pounds, the Fling Tent is as portable and lightweight as any two-person tent out there. Though the pack size is larger (20" x 6") than many such near-weightless shelters, you can still fit it just about anywhere in your pack.
The Fling's silicone- and polyurethane-coated material will keep the elements at bay, leaving you virtually untouched in any storm.
The unique design of the Fling Tent allows for ample sleeping space. Though the vertical room leaves a little to be desired (peak of less than three and a half feet), you can live easy inside the Fling.

Like most tents, waterproof or not, there is some condensation build-up inside the Fling in more extreme circumstances.
At least one MSR Fling review has mentioned that this is a big turn-off.
But you'd be lucky to find a tent that doesn't collect at least a little condensation.
Because there is no vestibule, you'll have to fit your pack and gear inside the tent. This really isn't that much of a problem until you need to get in or out of the Fling. It's difficult, and more than a little awkward, to maneuver around your supplies if you need to exit the tent in the middle of the night.

Summary:
Like many of MSR's products currently available to you, the Fling is a great find. If you are in the market for a new two-person, freestanding shelter, you'd be doing yourself a great disservice not to explore this shelter further.
The Fling Tent has its drawbacks, but the good generally far outweighs the bad.
The bottom line: check out the MSR Fling tent. And check it out right now.
