Marmot EOS

The EOS Tent

First impressions are important, so here's how the Marmot Eos immediately strikes us:

  • Super lightweight
  • Easy to set up
  • Comfort for one

Its $230 price tag at REI might seem a little steep for a one-person tent, but the Eos is only tent of its kind you'll ever need to buy, so splurge a little.

The tent holds up superbly in windy, wet conditions, but when the weather is fair, ditch the canopy and erect a bare-bones setup using just the rain fly, poles and footprint (sold separately).

EOS Tent: Advantages

Another View

Light, light and light – that's the main advantage of this awesome backpacking tent.

At just over three pounds fully packed, it's certainly not going to weigh you down during your ascent.

In addition to keeping you dry, the silicone/PU-coated rain fly provides excellent UV protection.

The large, D-shaped door lets you step in and out with ease, while the interior mesh pockets help to keep the tent floor tidy.

The vestibule isn't huge, but it provides enough room for your bag and boots.

Marmot EOS Tent: Disadvantages

One drawback of the Eos is that it's a little cramped, even for one person. You'll have to hover at about a 45-degree angle when sitting up.

But let's be honest – it's a one-person tent, AND it's super light. It doesn't need to be a hotel suite inside.

Marmot EOS Tent: Consumer Reviews

For a one-person tent, the Eos is about as reliable as they come. Here's what real users have said:

Consumers like:
  • Ultra-light, low-profile design
  • Easy, quick setup
  • Holds up well in wet, windy conditions
Consumers don't like:
  • Can't sit up without rubbing against mesh
  • Cramped

Marmot EOS Tent Summary:

This is a great three-season tent that will cost you a chunk of change--but it's money well spent.

Resilient, easy to set up and incredibly light, this freestanding tent is the perfect overnight companion for any solo backpacker.
