While these features make the Teton 2 ideal for backpacking, it is also a fantastic, no-frills car camping tent.

The Kelty Teton 2 Footprint

Purchasing a tent footprint is wise if you have kids or primarily car camp. For backpackers, a footprint adds too much weight to make it worthwhile.

If you will only be using the Teton 2 person, 3 season shelter for car camping, then purchase the footprint. If you are primarily a backpacker, skip it.

Kelty Teton 2 Person Tents: Advantages

One reason why Teton 2 backpacking tents are amongst the best is because they weigh less than 5 pounds and cost only $150 at Amazon.com (Like mentioned above, the tent is discontinued but we occasionally see it at Amazon.com).

Most tents for camping that cost less than $200 weigh more than your child or are terribly constructed and a waste of money.

Not so with the Kelty Teton Tents. With these shelters, you know you are purchasing quality.

Another benefit is that if you camp in dry areas, you can remove the rainfly and stargaze throughout the evening.

Finally, what's the worst part of backpacking? Pitching a tent after a long trek, right? Or having to set up camp in a storm, no? Well, this tent goes up within minutes. A priceless benefit.

Kelty Teton 2 Tents: Disadvantages

A common complaint about the Teton 2 Tent in consumer reviews is that it collects condensation. This is an unfortunate drawback that cannot be fixed.

The other disadvantage is a poorly constructed rainfly. Like the Kelty Teton 4 person tent, this complain is not across the board. Thus, it may be the fault of the campers.

With many affordable camping tents, the rainfly must be pulled extremely tight in order to be effective. This may be why some campers complain of the rainfly and others do not.
