The Eureka Equinox 6 tent is a top 3 season, 6 person family dome tents that are stable in high wind speeds.
The vast majority of Eureka Equinox reviews are positive; however, a few complaints exist that warrant taking a second look at this family camping shelter before making the investment.
The Eureka tent manufacturing company attempted innovation with the Equinox tent: Designing it in an umbrella hub shape, the goal was to make a shelter that is large, comfortable, and can withstand extreme wind speeds and heavy rain.
While they succeeded, camping tent reviews of the Eureka Equinox 6 found that the company, which is typically known for high quality materials, overlooked essentials and compromised the shelter's functionality.

Lets start with the good of the Eureka Equinox 6 tent:
While these features are certainly commendable innovations on family dome camping tents and make them sturdier in high winds, Camping Tent Reviews found that the Eureka Equinox 6 is not built with the same quality materials other Eureka tents are known for.
The zipper easily breaks and the floor, while waterproof, feels like it would rip easily with a misplaced cot leg.
Even though the Eureka Equinox 6 tent is a 6 person family dome camping tent, reviews at Amazon.com say that it sure feels crowded inside with 6 people.
Add in the fact that the vestibule costs extra (meaning your family camping equipment will be inside the tent, too) and it is impossible to have more than 3-4 people sleeping inside the Equinox.
A great benefit of Equinox tents is their ability to withstand strong winds and heavy rain--however, being cramped inside a camping tent with all gear and 3, 4, 5, or 6 people ruins a camping trip. There's no point to having a durable tent able to withstand a storm if you have no room to move around.
The bottom line is that for 5-6 people there is not enough room in the Eureka Equinox 6.

The greatest advantage of Eureka Equinox tents over competitors is its ability to keep your family dry and feeling safe in the worst of storms.
The slogan for the Equinox 6 is, "Everybody inside!" and it's true--your family will stay well protected in this sturdy camping tent.
Additionally, excellent windows and ventilation makes the Eureka Equinox 6 person family dome tent a worthwhile consideration.
Finally, weighing less than 20 lbs makes lugging this baby around easy on your back and joints.
A family camping tent needs to feel spacious. When spending $400 on a tent, you want either ultralight weight or ultra luxury. Eureka Equinox 6 tents provide neither. The fact is 6 people feel cramped in this tent, even if you purchase the gear vestibule that comes separately.
As important, too many consumer tent reviews claim the Equinox 6 zipper broke on them. This is unacceptable for a tent designed to withstand storms. How can you purchase a tent designed to weather the worst storms with the knowledge that its zipper frequently breaks? You can't. It's unreliable.

Summary
The Eureka Equinox six tent is inappropriately marketed as a 6 person shelter (4 people can fit comfortably--not 6).
That aside, Eureka attempted to revolutionize camping with the Equinox's umbrella dome shape. They could have done it--if the tent materials and construction quality was on par with other Eureka tents. Sadly, they are not and the company fell short.
Too many consumer Eureka Equinox reviews are negative about essential aspects of this tent. Bottom line is that you cannot justify spending $400 on an unreliable tent. Period.
