We are first time campers and have taken back a Eurohike Buckingham 8 to swap it for the Coleman Evanston 6 and what a difference!
It's well worth the extra bit of money.
Unlike our first tent it was so easy to put up and it has illuminous ropes, which is great. We brought it mainly because it has a 4000mm hydrostatic head, great for camping in this country and the sewn in groundsheet makes all the difference, keeps the wet, cold and bugs out. Love the light colour, the tent is so bright and airy.
We have 3 children, so we use all the bedrooms, not much room for storage, but couldn't afford to upgrade to the 8 man.
I can cook under the porch area and the tent is really sturdy.
I would definitely recommend the Coleman Evanston 6 tent, well worth the money. We got it for £229 and it was worth every cent!

For the money, the Coleman Evanston 6 tent is a great car camp tent.
Just purchased at a Sports Authority sale and it was less than $100 with coupon.
We went off roading in National Forest for a couple of nights in Colorado. Super easy to set up. You can tell it was quality material and well thought out.
The Overhang was great and the rain fly worked great.
First night out we had wind, thunder and the rain was pretty intense for over an hour. But our Coleman Evanston 6 tent was dry as a bone and fiberglass poles held up well.
There were a number of intense wind gusts. We thought this is it, tent is going to fold. It held! (long tent spikes might have helped)
As a 6 person tent, the Coleman Evanston is pushing it; but for 2 adults, 2 teenage kids, dog and gear... it was great...
Would strongly recommend it, especially if you can get it on sale. If you're an average camper for a few nights and don't expect to backpack in, then this is your tent!
Good job Coleman!
I started out with high hopes for this tent purchased it in April 2011 at a Department store in Leamington, Ontario Canada.
I’m reviewing it here because Coleman Canada doesn’t have reviewing available on its website. I set it up waterproofed it, allowed it to dry and put it back in its bag and stored it in the house.
When I set it up on my first camping trip in July one of the main poles had splintered, five hours from home I had to rig it together to finish my trip.
I contacted Coleman Canada in July received a computer generated email stating they would get back to me within a few weeks. By mid August no reply so I sent another email still no reply, it’s now September 6th still no reply and I have found another defective pole.
If Coleman can’t stand behind their product and send new poles or at the very least respond to customer inquiries why bother buying their equipment.
At $200.00 I now basically have a canvas bag that the tent came in and a very poor experience with Coleman.
Don’t waste your money on this tent poor quality and lousy customer service doubtful I will ever purchase another Coleman tent.
