Don't buy the Black Diamond Vista tent. Learn why you must avoid this spacious camping tent with our Vista 3 person, 3 season camping tent review
The Vista camping tent by Black Diamond is a three person, three season tent that offers a spacious interior that can be set up in a flash.
When it comes to three-person, double-walled backpacking tents, the differences in design are pretty far and few between among brands and models.
Sure, everyone claims that their product is light years beyond their competitors, but in reality, most aren't that different.
This is because innovations in the area of tent technology become industry standard very quickly. After all, nobody wants to be left behind in the race to the bestseller list.
So, what separates one camping tent from another?
The separation comes in the ways in which the products live up to their manufacturer's claims and boasts.
Most three-person tents are going to be labeled as roomy. But can they all actually fit three people and their gear comfortably? No way.
The Vista 3 person tent--though certainly not without its own faults--does live up to its boasts: the interior area (50.7 square feet) is spacious and comfortable and the shelter pitches in a flash.
When a company can support its claims about their products, then you know they're worth further investigation.
Black Diamond is the manufacturer of a number of worthy two- and three-person tents on the market. Count the Vista among their number--but you should read on and learn why Camping Tent Reviews.com does not recommend this 3 man tent.
We here at Camping Tent Reviews have said it before and we'll say it again: Black Diamond consistently makes better than average products that are worthy of your time and notice.
True, some of their tents and shelters are better than others, but they just don't make any truly bad camping tents.
The Vista 3 is a shining example of this. Though it may not be the best tent on the market, it is way above par in terms of:
The Various Views
What keeps this good tent from being truly great are a few disadvantages it carries with it.
For one, bugs are attracted to it like crazy. Yes, that's right. The Black Diamond Vista tent attracts bugs.
There is a remedy to this situation, but unless you've heard about it before you go camping, you can expect a terrible infestation of flies.
Another drawback to the Vista is its limited vestibule space (9 square feet).
It's just too bad the vestibule couldn't be as roomy as the interior.
The Vista Tent's Floorplan
Usually, when you're looking to buy a tent, you may consider buying a size-up from what you need (i.e. a two-person tent for one camper). This allows you to be certain that both you and all your gear will be safe and sound.
With the spacious Vista 3 man tent, you really don't have to worry.
With its incredibly spacious 50.7 square-foot interior area, the Black Diamond Vista tent is actually capable of comfortably sleeping three people (even three 6'+ men).
And don't worry about getting frustrated with the Vista's assembly either. With a hub-wrapped and variable-diameter pole system, pitching the Vista 3 camping tent is an absolute snap.
And, like all the best Black Diamond tents, the Vista is as durable as they come.
It easily sheds rain and winds with the best of them, and you can rest easy knowing that even in a torrential hail storm, the Vista will take the beating like a true champ.
The biggest complaint the Black Diamond Vista tent draws is that it attracts bugs. And not just a few bugs either; the complaints tell tales of hundreds of flies making their way in and around the tent.
After consulting the Black Diamond tent company itself, it has been determined that the material the Vista is made from attracts bugs.
The customer service specialists say that if you air the tent out over a few days before you go camping, you're problem will be taken care of.
But for a $370 tent, this should never have been a problem to begin with.
Another drawback to the Vista 3 man tent is the vestibule area (9 sq ft.). Although the interior is spacious enough to house three large campers, the vestibule can really only handle two large packs.
||Consumers don't like:
Not the best, but certainly not the worst, the Black Diamond Vista 3 tent is a shelter that's worth your time to inspect. The drawbacks are many, but so are the advantages.
In the opinion of the editors at Camping Tent Reviews, 370 bucks is too much to spend on a tent that attracts bugs--even if everything else makes this shelter incredibly attractive.
