Big Agnes Seedhouse SL3 Tent
A few things stand out about the Seedhouse SL3 tent. In particular, we like its:
Even though the tent is technically a three-person model, we find that it's comfiest with only two inside (if you need a more spacious, 2 person backpacking tent, then check out the Big Agnes Lynx Pass 2. That way, all your gear can stay inside with you. With three abreast, it's definitely a little cozy, and your gear will have to sleep outside.
The Seedhouse SL3 retails for around $300, but for a durable, super-light tent that shelters you nine months a year, we don't think that's too much to pony up.
Another View of the Big Agnes Seedhouse SL3 Tent
The Seedhouse SL3 setup is fast and easy thanks to its lightweight, 7000-Series aluminum poles and plastic clips that connect the tent walls to the poles. At its highest point, you have nearly four feet of headroom.
The nylon mesh walls allow for maximum ventilation. But with the rain fly up the ventialtion is minimal.
Both the floor and the fly are coated with fully waterproof polyurethane, and with the corresponding Big Agnes footprint (sold separately), you'll stay plenty dry.
It's hard to reiterate the lightweight design of this tent. At just under four pounds, one person won't mind the haul. Shared by two or three hikers, it's even less burdensome.
The tent features two mesh floor pockets and is compatible with the Big Agnes TRAPEZOID gear loft (sold separately).
Some hikers find the vestibule a little small, especially considering how much gear three people have.
The position of the rain fly door, too, can let water drip onto the base of the tent body when you open it.
Other than those minor inconveniences, you won't be disappointed.

Seedhouse SL3 Tent: Summary
Great for going ultra-light in the backcountry, the Big Agnes Seedhouse SL3 three-person tent is hard to beat for the price and features it provides. It might be a little cozier inside than some other models, but its lightweight design more than makes up for that.
Good for three-season use, hikers like this tent because, among other things, it is so darn light. It's goes up, breaks down and packs away quickly, and it'll keep you dry.
Leave a bag of dried apricots inside, though, and a squirrel might chew through the side, but other than that, this tent holds up fantastically.
