Ozark Trail 9 x 8 Dome Tent Review: A Top 4 Person Tent for Camping in Texas

by Craig
(Texas)

When I go camping, I like to take along my Ozark Trail 9 x 8 dome tent.

This tent has been my favorite for a while now and there are a lot of features on it that make it useful for my camping excursions.

First of all, it is very light weight and easy to carry on my back for several miles. Also, it easily fits four people into it, and the "Everdry" weatherproof system works best, even in the most torrential rains.

The taped fly seams create a seal that keeps out water and wildlife, which none of us wants visiting us while we sleep!

The one thing that kind of bothers me about this tent is the amount of time it takes to break it down and pack it away. It's definitely not the worst tent I've encountered, however the bag that is provided with the tent is fairly small and I find it sometimes difficult to get everything back into it.

Mostly I use the tent for recreational weekend trips with my friends and family. My most recent trip was to a campground in East Texas.

This tent performed well in the heat and gave plenty of ventilation when the screens were opened.

Overall, the Ozark Trail dome tent has kept me coming back for more and enabled me to enjoy the outdoors in the comfort of a light weight and spacious portable abode.

I would recommend it to those who are novices at camping and looking for something that can take light use and shorter duration camping trips.

4 Man Ozark Trail Tent Review: Waterproof, But Tiny

by Pete
(California)

We have an Ozark Trail tent that we purchased at Walmart. It says that it sleeps 4, but only 2 of us can use it.

It can be a little tight in there, with sleeping bags, pillows, and our bags.

We use it to camp on the beach, and it is great.

It does not make a lot of noise in the wind, and the rain flap works well.

We have never gotten wet from rain in it.

It is very easy to put up and take down.

One person can do it themselves, but it is easier with two people. The original stakes do not hold well in sand, unfortunately. We had to buy additional plastic stakes for beach camping.

We go camping at least once a year, with friends and family, and this tent holds up very well in the elements. One year, we were hit with thunderstorms overnight, and the tent looked no worse in the morning.

The only issue I have with the tent is there are not many utility features on the inside.

I have seen tents with cupholders, mp3 hookups, and other amenities, but this tent is very basic.

Granted, it gets the job done, but some frills would be nice. I understand that the price we paid was very reasonable, but tents can get very pricey, very quickly.

Overall, we enjoy our Ozark Trail tent very much. I would buy the same brand again, but next time, would definitely get a bigger tent.
